Branson-Hollister Rotarian,
Rotary International President for 2011-2012, Kalyan Banerjee’s theme for the year is “Reach Within to Embrace Humanity”. President Kalyan says “Together, we will Reach Within to Embrace Humanity” And in peace, harmony, and friendship we will bring change – and a more joyful world.”
The President’s words are powerful and set a lofty goal for all Rotarians around the world. That being said what can we, as members of Branson-Hollister Rotary Club, do to bring about change? The number one thing each of us can do is be active in our club. The Club has many ways a member can make a difference. The first and most important is to attend the weekly meetings. If you don’t attend the meetings you will not know what the Club is doing for the community.
Secondly, tell people about Rotary and what it does. Most people think polio has been eradicated in the world because we do not have cases in the United States. Rotary is the organization that is responsible for coming very close to polio eradication worldwide.
Thirdly, support the club and Rotary International financially. Become a Paul Harris Fellow if you are not already and if you are make your spouse or other family members a Paul Harris Fellow.
Your club does have a long history of being one of the best in the District and the State. This is not by accident; it is because of hard work and dedication of members. I challenge each of you to maintain this proud tradition. Take part in one more activity of the club than you did last year. It will be rewarding and the club will be better for it also.
I look forward to a great year and I am proud to be able to serve as your President. I would very much appreciate your suggestions as to what I can do to serve you and the Club better.
Thanks for all you do.
